Benevolent Ministry
The Church Street congregation understands that benevolence is an important part of Christianity. Jesus taught that we will always have the poor with us. He taught that we are to help the needy and “to do good unto all men, especially to those of the household of faith” (Gal. 6:10).
Church Street averages helping at least 40 families in the community each month with assistance on their utilities, groceries, rent, and medicine, as well as other needs.
If you need assistance, we require filling out our Hardship Assistance Form (download) to see if we can assist you. We do not guarantee help, as the needs are great here in Marshall County, but we will do what we can. If you would print out and fill out the form and return it to our office during working hours (8AM-4PM, Monday-Friday) we will be happy to see if we can assist you.

Church Street Cares
Church Street Cares is a program designed by the Elders to assist them in their efforts to make sure that the needs of every member are provided.
There are eight teams and the congregation is divided into eight groups. Each team is responsible for the needs of the members in one of these groups. The groups are rotated at the end of the year.
Each team consists of at least one deacon and his wife and one elder and his wife (currently two teams do not have an elder as a member). Approximately 130 members are involved in this program.
The Elders have placed the deacon in charge of each team. Some teams have more than one deacon, in which case the deacons may serve as co-leaders.
The deacons are responsible for coordinating the team members in their visits and other acts of kindness.
Following are suggestions for each leader and his team.
1. Meet at least once a month.
A. In a member’s home
B. At the church building if more convenient
2. Identify the shut-ins in your group and assign regular visits.
3. Identify members in your group who are sick.
A. Have a means of informing your team members whenever a group
member is sick or is in the hospital.
B. Assign team members to mail cards and to make visits.
C. In case of extended illness, assign members to provide food.
4. Identify those members in your group whom you do not know and plan ways to become acquainted.
5. When a death occurs in a group member’s family, schedule food delivery and visits.
6. Send cards when group members are ill or to recognize their birthdays, anniversaries, new births, or other special occasions.
7. Complete a visitation form for all visits made and place it in the appropriate box in the back hall.
8. Be mindful that all of us are members of one body; and when one member suffers in any way, all of us suffer. Offer help and encouragement to all who suffer.
9. Remember to work and pray and to “do good unto all men especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Family Ministry
The family ministry at Church Street is broad in scope, encompassing the entire congregation. The ultimate goal is to help each member “feel” important and useful in the kingdom of God. The family minister will seek to accomplish this goal by utilizing other members, staff and the various ministries to achieve this objective.
More specifically the purpose of the family ministry is to provide:
Encouragement to weaker members of body.
Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”Comfort members and/or family members who are hospitalized.
James 5:16 “The effective, fervent prayers of a righteous man avails much.”A life line to those who are confined to home, the nursing home, and assisted living.
Lev. 19:32 “You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man.”Direction and opportunities of greater involvement to new members.
1 Corinthians 12:6 “There are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.”Sympathy to those who have experienced loss of loved ones or are having difficulties.
1 Corinthians 12:26 “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer.”
Our efforts are intended to encourage and strengthen the body as a whole, interfacing as much as possible, the various ministries with the individual members. In all things our ultimate intention is to honor the church, as the blood bought bride of Christ, and to bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father.

World Bible School
World Bible School is a tool to teach the gospel of Christ through correspondence courses, using the Bible as the only guide. This correspondence occurs in homes, church buildings and personal offices across the Christian brotherhood. Countless teachers are everyday Christians, who, along with their home congregations, purchase the Bible courses and perform the volunteer work to reach millions of people in almost every nation on earth.
In 1971, Jimmy Lovell established the World Bible School correspondence courses with 200 students in Africa and the Caribbean. As these students referred their friends and neighbors, the number who were taught quickly grew to thousands. Today, at least 2 million students study the Bible with thousands of volunteers. An anticipated 1 million new students will enroll each year.
Ruel Lemons and Tex Williams are also past presidents of World Bible School. John Reese is the current president.
During its brief history, World Bible School has been instrumental in teaching the gospel to millions and has aided thousands to become children of God. All glory and credit belong to God, who works through believers willing to give themselves to Him. We invite you to join these volunteers and enjoy the blessings of sharing your faith with people eager to learn.
Worship Ministry
God’s inspired Word says that we must worship Him in spirit and truth, John 4:24. His Word also instructs us in the avenues of worship we are to use and how we are to use them to bring Him glory and honor. Some of those instructions are:
Preaching
Gal. 1:8, 9 – We are to preach only the gospel.
I Cor. 1:21- We are saved by preaching.
II Cor 4:5 – Christ is to be preached.
Acts 11:26 – Christians are to be taught continually.
Praying
Matt. 6:5-15 - Jesus teaches His disciples to pray.
Acts 2:42 – The church is to pray.
Col. 3:17 – We are to pray in the name of Christ.
I Thess. – We are to pray always.
Singing
Eph. 5:19 – Each person is to sing
James 5:13 – We are to sing for joy.
Matt. 26:30 – Hymns are to be sung.
Col. 3:16 – We are to teach and admonish by singing.
Observing the Lord’s Supper
Matt. 26:26-29 – The Lord’s Supper is instituted.
Acts 20:7 – The frequency of the Remembrance is discussed.
I Cor. 11:17-22 –We are not to abuse the Lord’s Supper.
I Cor. 10:16 – The Lord’s Supper is a communion.
Giving
I Cor. 16:1-2 – Each one is to contribute on the first day of the week.
II Cor. 8:1-5 – Each is to give of self first.
II Cor. 9:6-9 – Each is to give liberally, purposefully and cheerfully.
II Cor. 9:13-15 – Our giving proves our love for God.
The Worship Ministry goal is for all worship assemblies to be conducted in a manner bringing glory and honor to God. We also want to be sure that we worship Him in spirit and in truth. As we worship, we want to create an environment which sharpens our senses and gives the worshipper a greater appreciation of what God has done for us in the past, continues to do in the present and will do in the future.
